Modernising an ageing system
In the cinema business, time is everything. Tickets must be purchased, seats selected, and snacks ordered, all often within minutes of a movie starting. With large crowds arriving in short bursts and increasing demand for self-service, HOYTS faced growing pressure to maintain speed, accuracy, and a consistent customer experience.
To meet these needs, HOYTS had embraced self-service technology early, deploying custom-built kiosks to complement traditional point-of-sale systems. These kiosks handled both ticketing and concessions, helping reduce wait times and streamline the in-venue experience.
As HOYTS is a leading brand in cinema technology in Australia and New Zealand, they continue to look for avenues to improve and innovate on existing self service kiosks. With a mindset to elevate and have reliable technology, a next-generation solution was needed, one that was fast, flexible, modern, and reliable.
The ADVANTECH-AURES solution
HOYTS began the search for a replacement kiosk solution by identifying three key priorities:

Having previously worked with AURES Technologies and impressed by their product reliability, HOYTS selected the ADVANTECH-AURES KRYSTAL kiosk.
The KRYSTAL is a sleek, slimline kiosk featuring a 21” touchscreen and an innovative “all-in-the-head” design that integrates the printer, barcode scanner, and payment pinpad. This reduces the physical footprint without compromising on functionality, making it ideal for busy cinema foyers with limited space.
The kiosk can be either wall-mounted or placed on a minimal freestanding base. HOYTS opted for the freestanding version to maximise placement flexibility across its venues.
