An Amusement Park Group Seeking Greater Performance and Modernization
A major player in the European leisure industry, Compagnie des Alpes continues to modernize its infrastructure to enhance the visitor experience and improve operational efficiency for its teams. As part of this initiative, the group selected ADVANTECH-AURES solutions to renew its point-of-sale terminal fleet at Parc Astérix (France’s second-largest theme park) and deploy self-service ordering kiosks across its food service outlets.
According to Gregory Cosnard, IT Project Manager for Internal Sales & Hospitality at Compagnie des Alpes, the decision came naturally following very positive feedback from within the group, particularly from Futuroscope.
More Compact, More Robust Hardware Designed for Demanding Environments
The deployment began in 2023 in the Toutatis area, with the first YUNO II terminals installed.
The teams were looking for a solution capable of meeting the specific challenges of a leisure park environment: high visitor volumes, extended operating hours, and sometimes demanding environmental conditions.
“In terms of design, it looks better, takes up less space on the counters, and is more robust. During our preliminary testing phase, the equipment also demonstrated excellent heat resistance.”
This durability was particularly validated at a point of sale exposed to very high temperatures, where the equipment continues to operate optimally despite the absence of air conditioning and the presence of heat-generating devices.
Today, nearly 50 YUNO II terminals have already been deployed throughout the park, with a gradual replacement program underway for aging equipment.
Reinventing the Ordering Experience with Self-Service Kiosks
Alongside the POS renewal project, Compagnie des Alpes installed 14 KOMET ADVANTECH-AURES self-service kiosks at the Les Fastes du Nil restaurant.
The goal: modernize the customer journey and improve traffic flow during peak periods.
Visitors can now place their orders directly at the kiosks and either pay immediately by card or finalize their purchase at the cashier if they wish to pay in cash.
“This gives us the same operating model as major fast-food chains, creating a smoother and more enjoyable customer experience.”
Beyond improving convenience for guests, the kiosks also contribute to stronger commercial performance.
“A kiosk can also help boost sales.”
Tangible Benefits for Operational Teams
The adoption of ADVANTECH-AURES solutions has also delivered significant benefits for both frontline and IT teams.
Among the advantages observed:
- Reduced counter footprint thanks to the compact design of the YUNO II.
- A tiltable screen that provides improved operator ergonomics.
- An integrated barcode scanner that minimizes peripherals and cabling.
- Enhanced performance powered by the Intel® Core™ i3 processor, delivering faster startup times for both hardware and business applications.
- Reduced IT support and intervention times.
The fanless design has also proven to be a major maintenance advantage.
“With our previous tills, we regularly had to clean the fans. Today, that’s no longer necessary. The fanless design significantly reduces maintenance operations.”
A Partnership Built on Trust and Support
The decision to work with ADVANTECH-AURES was reinforced by positive feedback from other group locations already using the solutions.
“Futuroscope recommended ADVANTECH-AURES solutions to us, highlighting their reliability in the operating conditions of an amusement park. We followed that recommendation and have no regrets.”
Beyond the quality of the hardware, ADVANTECH-AURES teams stood out through their commitment and support.
“The ADVANTECH-AURES teams are highly competent, professional, and responsive. They support us before the project, throughout deployment, and after installation. They always provide solutions and are quick to come on-site whenever necessary.”
Continued Expansion Ahead
Encouraged by the results achieved so far, Compagnie des Alpes plans to continue deploying ADVANTECH-AURES solutions across its sites, progressively modernizing its point-of-sale infrastructure throughout the group.
